Crew parade and prise giving
Tonight after the traditional parade of ships' crews, The Culture 2011 Tall Ships Regatta awards ceremony took place in „Memel City“. The crews gathered around the stage, where they were greeted by the Republic of Lithuania Transport Minister Eligijus Masiulis, the mayor of Klaipeda Vytautas Grubliauskas, Port CEO Eugene Gentvilas, STI Racing Board Chairman Robin Snouck Hurgronje and STI representative in Lithuania, the yacht "Lietuva" captain Oswald Kudzevičius.
The host port Klaipėda gave the awards for oldest sailboat taking part in the race, for the most mussical vessel in the event, the most frequent visitor ship in Klaipėda port usually at the port.
Minister Masiulis awarded the oldest sailing ship participating it he event. It is Russian gaff schooner „Nadezhda“ (Class B), built in 1912 in Germany.
Most musical ship in the regatta was a Class B gaff schooner “Johan Smidt“ from Germany, the award was presented by the mayor of Klaipeda, Vytautas Grubliauskas.
Seaport Managing Director Eugenijus Gentvilas awarded the most frequently visiting ship. It is an impressive nearly 109 meters length Class A sailing ship “Mir“.
Sail Training International presented the awards for the ship which sailed the furthest from the home port, best ship crew in crew parade and the youngest captain.
STI representative in Lithuania, Osvaldas Kudzevičius, awarded the University of Murmansk barque "Sedov" (Class A), which came the longest way to Klaipėda from the home port in Murmansk, Russia.
Klaipeda University gaff top-sail schooner “Brabander“ (Class B) crew was awarded as the best crew in the parade, award was presented by STI Racing Board Chairman Robin Snouck Hurgronje.
Vytautas Grubliauskas honoured the youngest captain with the award. Jackey Butterfly Atrusko is 22, he is captain in class C ketch “Smialy”.
