To start the race from the port of Klaipeda signed up two new Class A vessels from the Netherlands: schooner "Gulden Leeuw" (1937) and barkentina "Thalassa".

Both vessels has their own story: "Thalassa" was drowned and later restored to new life, and the "Gulden Leeuw" started as an oceanic ice-class vessel, then - as a research sailing vessel, the supply ship, and now "Gulden Leeuw" comes to Lithuania as sail training vessel.
