Right embankment of the river Dane – „The Capital“ of Cultural Heritage and Craft
Right embankment of the river Dane is filled with action: Lithuanian folklore collectives are playing and the audiences are gathering around the stage, citizens of Klaipeda are shopping folk crafts and products made by the producers following cultural heritage tradition.
"Here you can find what the Lithuanian nation has truly unique," - said fair organizer Vaida Tamošiūnienė. According to Vaida, this year there is a special focus on cultural heritage. Domestic cheese producers said that they are enjoying good trade. Mrs. Stepa, whose family already has produced nine varieties of cheese for a century, said that it‘s important, not only to pass on the recipes from generation to generation, but also to have courage to try new spices, for example, anise and turmeric.
Mrs. Alma and mrs. Svetlana have arrived from Kaunas to admire the tall ships. While enjoying their cheese and homemade kvass, they listened to folk music bands on the Northern cape: „We are very happy that people who have arrived to Klaipeda from around the world can not only listen to modern music concerts, but also to see the national costumes and hear the folk songs“.
